Fall Cleaning

Well most people do their cleaning in the spring, but we did our big house cleaning job this month. Our 10 Grandson went through all his toys, and I can't even begin to count the number of pages of toys that went to goodwill, and the trash. He still has plenty, but they are now in toy boxes, and he is required to put the up each night or they are picked up and given to good will. I know that sounds harsh, but we are talking about grandchildren who haven't been required very often to pick toys up. Our 13 year old son went through all his books, and we separated some out for our 2 year old, and gave a box full to goodwill and a sack in the garbage, and he rearranged the ones he kept. We have two more rooms to go through to pick items for goodwill that we no longer use. I know it sounds as though we are messy people, but we have a house full of people. As of today we now have 5 adults and 2 children who live here all the time, one who is here every other weekend, and one who comes off and on whenever we want her too. We live in a 4 bedroom double-wide so we are FULL.
I know people think we are crazy, but I believe in family, and helping family. If they need something and I can help them I do. My son is moved in last night. He needs to get back up on his feet save some money to find a place to live. Yes it gets wild around here, and way to much noise, but I do it for them.
The Lord answers prayers in a multitude of ways, and I pray daily for each one of my children, and grandchildren. I recommend to parents out there who have adult children to go out and buy the book by Stormie Omartian "The Power of Praying for Adult Children". It is an amazing book. Actually she has one on husbands, wives, younger children, marriage. Who books are so good and they really teach you how to pray. The Lord has already begun to answer some of my prayer request, and I am anxiously awaiting to results of many, many more.

Drugs

I have a beef......Why do parents continue to do drugs once they have children. Atleast in the house where they live. They say they love their children, but yet the constantly continue to smoke it around them. Do they not realize the neurological damage they are doing to their children. The breathing problems that are giving them. If you want to kill yourself on that stuff that is fine, but not precious children, who don't have a choice. They have to live in the house with Mom and Dad, and it isn't in the least be fair. I just don't understand this at all.

Well, after me myself having had the crud for over a month now, with my dsd having strep before that, I have I hope at pray come to the end of my illness. Cepacol, prescription cough medicine and antibiotics becoming my friends, the crud has decide it has grown tired with me and has moved on over to my husband and dgs. I pray that it tires of this household very soon, and moves some where else. I'm thinking somewhere in the desert where it is nice and warm, and no one else lives there, or wait and deserted island would be better. This is nasty stuff, wait I have it, lets send it over to the Taliban and spread over there, then no one would feel like fighting. I sure don't. I don't feel like doing anything. Unless you count, blowing my nose, hacking, taking cough medicine sleeping. Great cycle. Just great. Anyway, I was saying, I am at the end of my illness, and I do not want it again. I am actually ready to get up and clean house, wow. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone I said that. LOL. For any out there who gets that sore throat go to the drugstore and get the cepacol that is really good stuff and helps the throat a lot.

Wow, didn't think I could feel lost so fast, as I do when I don't get to keep my grandbaby.  I have gotten to see her twice this week, and have enjoyed each moment of it.  It is hard to get up during the night, and find yourself tip-toeing past the baby bed, only to remember that she isn't in it.  I am hoping and praying that after this next week, I might have a chance of getting her again.  I don't feel as though I am doing my job when I am not keeping her.  She was really happy to see us this week.  We went to the park this afternoon and she got to slide, and play on the horses.  We wanted her to swing but the baby swing was broke, and she wasn't thrilled about swinging in someone else's lap although she did for a minute.  I look forward to more and more days of this.  My Mom and Dad have their house for sale, and have a good prospect on buying it, we are hoping soon to be able to move them here closer to us.  I love having my family around me.  My grand sons are growing up faster than I can tell you.  The oldest one is at boy scout camp this week, he will be home tomorrow.  He called his mom this week and said "I'm a celebrity.....get me out of here."  He is so funny, and also so homesick.  We will be glad to have him home also.  His younger brother, has admitted several times this week, how much he misses his brother, for he doesn't have anything to play with, (of fight with). LOL.  Well has the storm rolls in for the evening, we are preparing to go out for our anniversary supper.  I husband made it home from Boy Scout Camp in time.  He was tied up with Boys Scout training camp on my birthday, I probably wouldn't be so happy to have him have missed the anniversary also.  23 years and counted, And let me tell you if I had know before I married him what my life would have been like......I would have married him anyway.  Love him very much.

Montgomery gets tough on people parking in front yards with $50 fines

Posted by Associated Press June 02, 2009 4:30 PM

MONTGOMERY -- City residents who park a vehicle in a front yard will have to pay a $50 fine for each violation starting this week.

The Montgomery City Council approved a revised residential parking ordinance earlier this year that includes the fine. Vehicle owners were given a monthlong warning period in May. That has now ended.

The new ordinance allows the city's housing code inspectors to issue a citation on the spot for any vehicle found parked in a front yard.

Council members said the old ordinance was virtually unenforceable because a citation could be issued but not enforced for 10 days, allowing the owner to move the vehicle numerous times. The new law allows vehicles to be parked on the side of a home, as long as the home is not on a corner lot.

Okay I must be different than most people.  I fully believe if you own the house, and you own the land the house is sitting on, shouldn't be able to park you car on it anywhere you want.  Same goes for these communities that pass the rules about what kind of fence you put up, or what kind of tree you plant in your front yard.  My House, My land, My rules.  I don't tell you what you can do on your land, you don't tell me what to do on mine.  Sorry again I rant on.....I just have a big problem with this.   It was my hard made money that bought this house and front yard, why do you think you can tell me where to park my car.  GRRRR!!!!!

In this crazy rush these days, the true meaning of Memorial Day is forgotten.  It is a day for picnics, and bar-b-ques, days off from work, where people don't stop and member their family members who died fighting in the wars so that we can have our freedoms.

Memorial day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic.  It was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.  The first state officially to recognize the holiday was New York in 1873.  By 1890 all the northern states recognized the holiday.  The South refused to acknowledge it, they had their own days to honor their dead, after WWI the holiday was changed to honor not only the Civil War dead, but people who died in any war.  This is when the South started recognizing the holiday.  It is now celebrated by almost all states on the last Monday in May.  The south still celebrate the dead in the Confederate War on different days.  Texas in Jan 19, April 26 in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi; May 10 in South Carolina; and June 3 in Louisiana and Tennessee.
Lets get back to the true meaning of Memorial Day.  Stop and think about what your ancestors fought and died for.  Lets remember Memorial Day with a thought for what we have now, the freedoms, and thank those who died to give them to us.

Italian Sausage Spaghetti

I am sure a lot of you may have had this before, but my family and I hadn't.  I bought a jar of Italian Sausage and Garlic spaghetti sauce, and a jar of onion, garlic.  We needed a quick dinner last night, and not having hamburger here, but having a package of Italian smoked Sausage, we chopped it up and sauteed it with Italian seasonings, garlic salt, onion powder, when it was brown I poured the two jars of sauces on it, and while it simmered cooked the spaghetti.  We threw it all together with garlic toast.  Everyone like it, which is saying a lot for this family.  It was easy to fix, faster than regular spaghetti, and I think I liked it better than my spaghetti.  You can mix different jars of sauce if you want depending of the taste of your family.   Anyway  Enjoy!

You know when my grandchildren were little I thought I would want them to stay small all their lives, they are so precious. But now as they get older I realize how awesome they have become as they grow into young men and ladies.  Of course my granddaughter is just 20 months old, so she has a bit to go, but the boys are growing up so fast.  I really enjoy spending time with them and talking with them.  They are remarkable in what they know.  It amazes me the knowledge they soak up and how they use the knowledge.  Cebastian's mind thinks on a level way over me, but I love talking to them.

As far as my husband goes.  I have heard so many wives complain when their husbands retire, how they are under foot all the time.  I wish mine was under foot more.  I love having him home with me.  He completes me.  I thank God for ALL my family and what they mean to me.  I feel my purpose in life in taking care of my grandchildren, and although there is always days when I am very tired, I wouldn't trade my days with anyone.  They are worth the gray hairs, and tired muscles.

The Many Uses For Bounce

Bounce isn’t just for the dryer anymore.

1.     It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2.     Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vechicle.

3.     It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don’t get opened too often.

4.     It repels mosquitoes.  Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when out of doors during mosquito season.

5.     Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

6.     Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

7.     Dissolve soap scum from shower doors.  Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

8.     To freshen the air in your home---Put an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

9.     Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

10.  Prevent thread from tangling.  Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

11.  Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

12.  To freshen the air in your car—place a sheet under the front seat.

13.  Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan.  Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean.  The anti-static apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

14.  Eliminate odors in wastebaskets.  Place a sheet at the bottom of the wastebasket.

15.  Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.

16.  Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds.  Wipe the blinds with a sheet to prevent dust from resettling.

17.  Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering.  A used sheet will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

18.  Eliminate odors in dirty laundry.  Place an individual sheet at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

19.  Deodorize shoes or sneakers.  Place a sheet in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

20.  Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

21.  Put a sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them.  It will keep them smelling fresh.

22.  Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wife lovebugs off easily with the wet bounce.

I received this by email from my aunt today.  I will be trying this one a lot. LOL

http://babyparenting.about.com//b/2009/05/16/face-paint-recall.htm

Oriental Trading Company has issued a recall on Fun Express face paint.  They say only about 130 customers have bought this paint, but just to make sure if you have bought paint from them in the past you might want to check your item numbers.   The FDA said at a recent event where face painting was taking place, children experienced “rashes, itchiness, burning sensation, and swelling” after the paint was applied, after testing the paint the FDA indicated microbial contamination.

Here are the item numbers:

85/2079   Red Face Paint

85/2080   Orange Face Paint

Fudge in a Sandwich Bag.

How to make fudge in a sandwich bag

Okay here is another recipe you can try out with your boy scouts, or even your children when you are traveling.  Maybe you have a sweet tooth, but you know that if you make that big pan full of chocolate fudge you will eat it all, and if you are like me you don’t need to eat it all.  Well here you just make a little bit at a time, your children can make it.

You can break these ingredients down and make small proportions and make them in sandwich bags.  Each child can have their own bag to knead.  Put those busy hands to a job that they can get a benefit from, keeps them busy, and takes care of that sweet tooth.  We all know we need more children with a sugar high. LOL.  Boys on camp-outs can really get into this.  They can sit around the fire and tell ghost stories and make fudge. Takes about 5 minutes of prep. time and 15 minutes to prepare.  Serves 6-10. Check in out and see how the little ones like it.

Ingredients:

3 ounces of cream cheese

1 lb powered sugar

6 tablespoons hot cocoa mix or ½ cup cocoa

2 T butter

1 gallon Ziploc bag

1.     Place all ingredients in the Ziploc bag.  You may need to use a bag inside a bag.

2.     Squish all ingredients together by hand. Mix  for about 10 to 15 minutes.  Open and enjoy.
